A Brief History of Healing Touch
Simply speaking, the first time anyone bumped his or her elbow, stubbed a toe,
or cracked a shin on a big rock massage was born. It is a natural response
to hold or rub a body part that hurts.
In 1813, Per Henrik Ling established the Royal Swedish Central Institute of Gymnastics
and organized a series of movements, strokes, and manipulations
that became the basis of modern Swedish Massage.
This modality, among others, has proven invaluable to countless persons
from all walks of life, in all parts of the world.
